Boudoir photography FAQ

Most women who write to me have never done this before. These are the questions I am asked first.

I am nervous. Is that normal?

Yes. Almost everyone is. You do not need to feel confident before you arrive. That is the point of the session. We start slowly, the room stays private, and we go at your pace.

Do I need to know how to pose?

No. I will show you where to stand, what to do with your hands, and when to breathe. You will not be left guessing.

Who sees the photographs?

Only you, unless you choose to share them. I will not publish an image without your permission. Many clients keep the set entirely private. If you choose I'd love to show your images here or even get you published in a glossy magazine, your call entirely.

Where do you shoot?

I am based in Lymm, Cheshire. Sessions are typically in a hired studio — not my house. Your home is possible if it is private and has the space, quoted before we book. A hotel is your room, at your cost, quoted once we know which one. Outdoors is Fashion editorial. Women also travel from Warrington, Knutsford, Crewe, Nantwich, Macclesfield, Altrincham and Chester, even Manchester and beyond.

What should I wear?

There are two sessions, so there are two bags. Studio boudoir is lingerie you already like, a robe, an oversized shirt. Fashion editorial is a coat, a dress you already own, jeans — clothes on, outdoors. Three or four looks is enough. I will help you choose on the day. There is a full guide here: What to wear.

Is hair and makeup included?

Come as you want to look, or book your own hair and makeup if you prefer. We can talk it through when you get in touch.

How long does a session last?

Plan on a few unhurried hours so we are not watching the clock. I will confirm the time when we book, so it fits around you. As a guide I'd suggest a minimum of 2 hours.

Can I do this as a gift?

Yes. Bridal lingerie, a veil, or something just for you. If it is a surprise for someone else, we can keep the booking discreet.

Do you photograph burlesque?

Yes. Bring the costume and whatever belongs to the act. We can still shoot simpler portraits in the same session if you want both.

What if I do not like how I look?

You choose the images. I retouch them so you look like yourself on a very good day — not like someone else. If a look does not feel right in the room, we skip it.

How much does it cost?

Studio boudoir starts at £395. Clothes-on outdoors starts at £345. The collections are on Packages and Fashion editorial. I would rather talk you through what you actually want than hide a surprise later.

What do I leave with?

Photographs you have chosen, retouched, and that still look like you. We will agree what is included before the shoot, so there is no awkward sales hour at the end unless you want to talk about extras.

If your question is not here, write anyway. That is what the first message is for.
